Lu'au and the Hula

No vacation to Kauai would be complete without a La'au and the Hula dance. The authentic traditional Hula is being recaptured, today the dance being shown is the most authentic that it has been in the last 200 years.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Bert's Place was ...Well a place I just had to take a photograph of long forgotten but still had charm. This building is located at the entrance of a little town full of galleries called Hanapepe. Looks a bit like some of the buildings found here in the Crowsnest Pass.

The Napali Coast is so rugged that it can't by driven by car the only way walk it, fly over it or sail around it. This photograph still does not show the full beauty of the coast line.

I have given myself a challenge ...Fine Art...this is a tough one for me to do and feel confident that I have nailed it. Why? Well, my sister, Eileen owner of Canal Hill Studio in Brooks is a graduate of fine arts but that is not all she graduated with "Great Distinction" hmm.. measure up to that one!!

A Little Fun

Last week, I hosted a Professional Photographers of Canada meeting here in the Crowsnest. We had a great time with our models ,who were great sports as we tried different shooting techniques. We shared a few laughs and had a nice lunch at Chris's one of the local favorites. The Crowsnest is a beautiful place perhaps you might want to take a drive and get your fall portraits taken by Canal Hill Studio.

I know it has been a couple of week since I have been home from Victoria but ...I finally had a chance to look at some of the images that I photographed.

I am a bit partial to this beauty,this is my sister Eileen, she is the owner/photographer of Canal Hill Studio Brooks, Ab. She was kind enough to be our model on one of our evening shoots even when she was busy in a Lori Norstrom class tweeking her amazing ability to capture new born babies.

Summer Time

Sometimes it seems that the only time a family has together is a few short weeks during the summer. This family took advantage of the short time that they had and I am sure that they are glad that they did.

I had the pleasure to study under Scott Robert Lim at image explorations held on Vancouver Island this past week.

I had my eyes opened the first couple of hours in his class, sometimes you break the rules that have been drilled into you head, and for those of you who know me...well I am a little black and white but I did bend. By doing this I gained another skill that I will perfect.

Continuing to learn, there is always room for improvement, and the rewards that will follow.
